\cf1\b\f1 FS98 Boeing 7377-300 B-2939 Shenzhen Airlines \par
   \par
\cf0\b0\f0 Repainted by Gerry McLaughlin\par
from a Kim Simmelink original.\par
********************************************************************************\par
\par
The Cantonese city of Shenzhen is situated just 'over the border' from \par
Hong Kong. prior to the return of Hong Kong in 1998, it was a duty free \par
area with special economic benefits not available elsewhere in China. \par
Today its airport is fast developing, particularly since handling charges for\par
freight aircraft are significantly less than those of nearby Chek Lap Kok\par
airport.\par
Shenzhen Airlines are one of a large number of fairly new domestic air-\par
lines operating Boeing 737s on daily services to Beijing and elsewhere\par
in China.\par
\par
For enthusiasts of Microsofts Flight Simulator, Shenzhen has the advantage that\par
it is the closest airport to Kai Tak (Macau is also very close, of course)\par
and makes an ideal starting point for the short flight which includes the \par
exciting IGS13 (checkerboard) approach into that airport.\par
Taking off from Shenzhens runway 15, those of you who, like me, do not always\par
adhere to SIDs, fly straight ahead, climbing to about three thousand\par
feet, cross Deep Bay, pass over the town of Tuen Mun, and make a gentle left \par
descending turn to the left, which will allow you to intercept the IGS13 \par
localiser.\par
I am not a pilot (the foregoing paragraph may have made that glaringly obvious \par
to those of you who are!)_but I was told by a Cathay Pacific pilot that\par
I should be in the landing configuration by the outer marker, enter the turn at \par
700 feet, cross the road at 300 and make sure I dont touch down before \par
I reach the displaced threshold. Usually I'm just happy to get down at all!\par
\par
IMSTALLATION\par
\par
Like many others apparently, I have not been uploading my zip file correctly\par
to WWW.Flightsim.com! I now believe that the file_id.diz should be OUTSIDE\par
the aircraft folder, and intend to do this in future. This means that when you\par
unzip the file, if you do so directly into the AIRCRAFT folder of FS98, you\par
will end up with the file_id.diz running about loose inside the folder!\par
This will do no harm, but you can delete it the next time you open up\par
the Aircraft folder, since it will no longer be required.\par
So, simply unzip the zipfile straight into the AIRCRAFT folder, and after\par
you've had a flight, go into the folder and delete the file_id.diz.\par
If you have any problems, feel free to visit my site and e-mail me for help.\par
\par
Nothing in this zipfile should harm your computer, but you take the\par
risk when you decide to unzip it. \par
\par
\cf1\b\f1 CREDITS\par
\cf0\b0\f0\par
Kim Simmelink for the original aircraft; Chuck Dome for TEXBMP2 which\par
makes re-paints possible; Guy Norris and Mark Wagner for 'Modern\par
Boeing Jetliners' and John K. Morton for 'Airlines of the Orient',\par
two excellent sources of photographs used to assist my repaint.\par

Some day you may see another repaint in the colours of Harvestair, but they used it mostly as an \par
anti-oil pollution sprayer keeping the North Sea free from damage caused by oil spills. \par
I wont be able to add spray bars, but it spent some time without them too.\par
\par
This is another repaint of Marcel Ritzema and Alexander Schmidt's magnificent DC3. \par
I've fitted a modified AIR file which makes it more steerable on the ground. (Sorry, but\par
I've lost my original download, so I can't credit the person who carried out the modifications\par
since I don't know his name). If you don't like it, because it can make the plane bounce a bit\par
when turning on the ground, just delete the Air File and re-name the file called 'AIR.orig' as\par
AIR and you will have a normal, fairly unsteerable FS taildragger!\par
 \par
INSTALLATION\par
\par
As with all my aircraft, this should simply be a matter of unzipping with Winzip straight \par
into the AIRCRAFT directory of your FS98. However, I always unzip other people's aircraft \par
into a temporary folder first, and this is probably a good routine to adopt, just in case!\par
Anyway, once you have the folder in the AIRCRAFT directory, you can fly it, and have a look \par
at it, but it won't have the correct yellow until you complete the next process.\par
Open up the folder marked 'Air Anglia C47' and inside you will find another folder called \par
'modified colour palette'. Open up this and follow the instructions to install the alternative\par
palette into your TEXTURE folder, and the colour of the yellow cheatline will change. I don't\par
believe there are any other colour changes, so there is no real problem about using this \par
alternative palette - I think the deeper yellow is more useful anyway. However, if you find \par
that you are not happy with it, provided you have followed Dave McQueen's instruction properly,\par
you will have the old palette which you can easily put back.\par
\par
As with all aircraft, download a good panel and sound - it makes a huge difference to the \par
flying experience. For the C47, first choice has to be the Rambow/Chaffin/ Vimmer panel, which\par
also comes with pretty good sound, but if you find the download is too big (about 12MB if I \par
remember correctly), there are lots of other good DC3 panels and sounds available at \par
WWW. Flightsim.com and elsewhere.\par
\par
Nothing in this zip file should harm your computer. However, if you think that it has, by \par
downloading and installing this file, you have accepted responsibility.\par
\par
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS\par
Marcel Ritzema, Alexander Schmidt, and Jon Kelley for the original aircraft; Tony Madge, who \par
sent me the original all white aircraft which still remains on the top of the fuselage, and \par
Dave McQueen, whose alternative colour palette made the Air Anglia colour scheme possible.\par
The details on Air Anglia come from Martin W. Bowman's great book 'Piston Powered Propliners'.\par
